ABOUT US

It's really just me right now

The song above was recorded entirely on the Ex Inferni 6 MK-II I'm holding in the picture to the left.

My name is Myles (pictured with the first Ex Inferni prototype, many moons ago, then again below with a current model), and I am the founder of Machina Guitars Inc. I picked up my first guitar at 13 years old and have been an avid player ever since.

Anything else I could say about myself would just be filler. I build a mean playing guitar, and that's what matters.

Machina Guitars' Promise

Quality Over Quantity

I learned how to build guitars from the late owner/operator of the oldest electric guitar company in Canada. In fact, I have 2 of the rarest guitars he ever built, and the key to their rock-solid quality is what inspired many of the design and component choices I made. All the components used at Machina Guitars are made in Canada, the United States, Germany and Japan, and are the highest quality I can find from trusted suppliers. If there is something special you want, just ask! I'm not trying to put you in a box with limited options; I just didn't want to sit there all day data entering bridges and pickups into that spreadsheet Order Form thing I made. I also stand by my work with a standard 3 year manufacturer's limited warranty, as well as the option to purchase lifetime warranty on all manufacturer defects that effect playability.

People Over Profit

Machina Guitars is committed to amazing wages and an unbeatable work-life balance. Machina Guitars will have a realistic production quota attached to a regular 8 hour work day, to be met by each employee. As employees become more familiar with the process at Machina, their daily quota will not increase, but their ability to complete the job quickly will. When their quota is met for the day, they can leave. This gives them back something more valuable than money - time. I don't want to pay people for their time, I want to pay them for their production. If a person gets good enough at their job that they can complete an 8 hour day in 4 hours, but they decide they still want to work the full 8 hours, their quota will double and so will their salary, assuming there is enough work available to justify essentially hiring another full time employee.

The only way to accomplish this is to remove the profit motive from the company. As the only shareholder of Machina guitars, I can guarantee this happens. The intention is to operate the company by myself until it becomes too much for one person to handle in a 12-16 hour day, then hire a qualified person at a wage that can't be turned down. I'll repeat this until Machina has enough funds to start building prototypes of/patent the technologies I've designed. More about that later.

Innovation

I wish I could spill the beans, I really do but, it would be a huge misstep for me to talk about anything tech/innovation related before it's patented. The advancements that I'm ready to unveil the moment that I have the capital to build the prototypes and patent them are going to be game changing. I have already designed multiple innovations that will revolutionize nearly every aspect of the guitar playing experience. I'm talking about major QoL improvements that you never knew you wanted.

Never Stop Expanding

There are plenty of materials used in a Machina that would be cheaper if we owned their production, which is why we will expand into new industries that are synergetic with Machina Guitars. This ensures that the new company has a decent first client (Machina Guitars) as it starts its operations and draws in 3rd party clientele. Once the new company has built up enough clientele of it's own that it no longer requires any financial assistance from Machina Guitars, then Machina will move onto the next phase - the Ex Machina phase.

The Ex Machina Initiative

(Keep in mind that the following would be exceedingly difficult to achieve, but if the stars align for Machina, this will be the outcome)

When Machina Guitars fulfills it's purpose of generating a second profitable company, it will begin what I call the "Ex Machina Initiative". The idea behind the initiative is simple - Make lives easier for the surrounding community. My initial goal for Machina Guitars in Leduc, AB, is hot lunches for all students at all schools, everyday, because no kid should have to try and learn on an empty stomach. I believe that a privately funded subsidization of that sort would likely entice people to move here, thus increasing the entire local economy. There really is no downside to what I'm trying to do other than I don't get to squander all the profit on trying to build a working replica of Professor Xavier's hover-chair. I think we can all agree that feeding kids is more important so, with that in mind, I'll forego the chair that would have almost certainly made me an absolute chick magnet.

If Machina becomes large enough, we will also subsidize children's sports, music lessons (not just guitar), and give out scholarships for post secondary education. This will help put money back in parent's wallets, and ensure that their kids will have the best opportunities possible. Everybody wins. All it takes is a very ambitious company with a very ambitious owner who doesn't care about being a wealthy individual. I'll take 5 happy employees with thriving personal lives and good attitudes over 5 disgruntled employees and a supercar any day.

As mentioned before, every Machina company is going to repeat the same steps, including the Ex Machina Initiative. It is my intent to do this as many times as I can over the course of my life, and once I, along with the help of countless others, manage to get 4 companies up and profitable, I vow to be the lowest paid person at each of those companies. A person answering phones at Machina Guitars will make more money than I do from Machina Guitars as the owner. No loopholes. No shareholder loan where I'm putting personal expenses through the company. No $20k/month invoice from some numbered company I own for "management fees". Nothing shady, ever. Everything for the workers and community, with a little left over in the corporate bank as a contingency. Once a Machina company implements the Ex Machina Initiative, it's only purpose is to continue to grow so that it can employ more people at high wages, and create more time and expense savings for the community around it, making it a true Ex Machina.

Only in a world like that will we get to see the true potential of human innovation.

A place where entire communities are supported and encouraged to become the best versions of themselves.

I want my child to live in that world.
